The Introduction : Quran Karim and Surahs And Verses, What Does The Quran Karim Contain

Introduction

The Quran Karim is a compilation of the verbal revelations given to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) over a period of twenty two years. The Quran Karim is the Holy Book or the Scriptures of the Muslims. It lays down for them the law and commandments, codes for their social and moral behaviour, and contains a comprehensive religious philosophy. The language of the Quran is Arabic.
Besides its proper name, the Quran is also known by the following names:al Kitab The Book;al Furqan The Discriminant: al Dhikr The Exposition; al Bayan The Explanation; al Burhan The Argument; al Haqq The Truth; al Tanzil The Revelation; al Hikmat The Wisdom; al Huda The Guide; al Hukm The Judgment; al Mau'izah The Admonition; al Rahmat The Mercy; al-Noor The Light; al-Rooh The Word

Surahs And Verses

The Quran Karim is divided into 114 Surahs or Chapters and each Chapter consists of individual Ayaat or verses. There are in total 6,348 verses in the Quran Karim. The Surahs are of varying lengths, some consisting of a few lines while others run for many pages. Surah al Baqarah (Ch.2 ) is the longest Chapter comprising 287 verses while Surah al Kauthar( Ch. 108) is the shortest with only four verses including the tasmia.
The text of the Quran Karim has remained unchanged over the past 1400 years. The millions of copies of the Quran circulating in the world today are all identical down to a single letter. And this is not strange since God says in the Quran Karim that He Himself will guard this book:
"Surely it is We Who have revealed the Exposition, and surely it is We Who are its guardians" (15:10)

What Does The Quran Karim Contain

To the Muslims, the Quran is the Word of God and contains complete guidance for mankind. Much of the Quran is about God, His attributes and man's relationship to Him. But it also contains directives for its followers, historical accounts of certain prophets and peoples, arguments for accepting Muhammad as a genuine Prophet and good news for the believers and warnings for the disbelievers. Broadly speaking, the contents of the Quran Karim fall into five main categories:
  1. Nature of the Spiritual World
  2. The Law and Commandments
  3. Historical Accounts
  4. The Wisdom
  5. The Prophecies

Good Qur'an Poem : The best DISTINGUISHED Student

Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (radiAllahu anhu) said:

يَنْبَغِي لحَامِلِ اَلْقُرْآنِ أَنْ يُعْرَفُ بِلَيْلِهِ إِذَا النَّاسُ نَائِمُونَ
The one who memorizes Quran must be known
by his nights when the people are sleeping,

by his days when the people are eating,

by his sadness when the people are rejoicing,

by his crying when the people are laughing,

by his silence when the people are chatting away,

and by his humility when the people are boasting.

(اَلْتِّبْيَانُ / atTayybah)

Tips on memorizing the Qur'an
Notice the young brothers that memorized the Qur'an in your community, they are already pushed to the front of the congregation by virtue of their accomplishment. They, at this early start, are forced to contribute to the community and live a life of significance. Bi idhnillah. That's what we all want. The Qur'an can do it for you.

But these gifts have a condition: the taqwa of Allah. There is one absolute naseeha that will make or break the persons drive to memorize the Qur'an: One must desist from sin! Ibn Mas'ood said, "I feel that indeed someone will forget knowledge they had a acquired because of sins they commit."

When Abu Haneefah, rahimahullah, was confronted with a Fiqh Mas'alah that he was unable to conclude, he would get up and pray two raka'at in tawbah to Allah. These are people who truly knew the prize to be won. Allah ta'ala teaches us in the Qur'an: "[Be conscious of Allah and Allah will teach you.] This knowledge is from Allah ta'ala, a gift. It makes no sense that someone spends their nights disobeying the gift-giver while awaiting His gifts in the morning".

Al-Khateeb reported in al-Jaami' (2/387) that Yahya ibn Yahya said: "A man asked Maalik ibn Anas, 'O Abu 'Abd-Allaah! Is there anything that will improve my memory?' Maalik ibn Anas, rahimahullah, replied, 'If anything will improve it, it is giving up sin." Bishr Alhaafee, rahimahullah, said "A servant commits a sin, and is deprived [thereby] of performing tahajjud."

7 ways of Qira’at

The speciality of the Holy Quran in comparison to other divine books is that it is the word of Allah ta’ala and has descended directly from Him. As such, there are specific instructions with regard to its recitation. The Prophet of Allah ta’ala himself recited the Quran in accordance with these instructions, and taught the same method to his disciples. These disciples taught it to their followers, who in turn taught to later generation. This process has continued for centuries and hence reached us in accordance with the initial original instructions. The uniqueness lies in the fact that even after more than fourteen centuries, the Quran is recited in the same style and method in which it was recited during the period of Prophethood and the times of the disciples. It has been preserved in the same style and method. This fact has been testified by not only the Muslims, but also by the non-Muslims. History is replete with numerous testimonies. The recital of the Quran in accordance with the sunnah (tradition of the Prophet [PBUH]) is called Tajweed (phonetics or the recitation of the Holy Quran).

The Quran was sent to earth by Allah ta’ala for the guidance of humankind. And Allah ta’ala chose Arabic, a dynamic and most scientific language as it’s medium –

The Arabic language happens to be a very sensitive language. Even a slightest variation in its pronunciation changes the very meaning of a word. For example,

The two word and , are written with and respectively. The phrase says, "Oh Prophet, offer namaz and qurbani for your Creator”. But if these two words are pronounced wrongly to sound as in place of and in place of
, the entire connotation would change and it would mean, “Console your Creator and rebuke Him”.

The methodology of proper recital of the Quran was compiled in accordance with the instructions given by the Prophet (PBUH). Tajweed in fact is the art of reading the words with their correct pronunciation.

The Art of qira’at

Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (PBUH) was sent as the last Messenger of Allah ta’ala for the
